6 Virtues You Must Possess To Succeed in Online Marketing

by Russ Henneberry

sixWant your tiny business to be a huge success on the Internet?

Here are six virtues you will need to get it done:

CuriosityCuriosity can be a double-edged sword when marketing online.  Too little and you will not have what it takes to investigate the latest and greatest tactics and technologies.

Too much curiosity and you will be buried in an avalanche of information — constantly darting down one path and then down another.

Look for a happy medium in your curiosity.

Patience -  The Internet moves at the speed of light.  Right?

Wrong.

Internet marketing can be extremely frustrating to those that don’t possess patience.

It is difficult to buy attention online and, therefore, you must EARN attention.  Getting the attention of buyers online takes time and effort but in the end, you will have a strong base of loyal customers rewarding you for your patience.

Bravery – Starting your own tiny business takes guts and marketing that business will test your bravery as well.  It will take a strong will to get out of your comfort zone when implementing new technologies and tactics to market your business online.

Consistency -  Just as with any kind of marketing – you must have a consistent message.  You will not succeed if you are redefining your marketing message often.  You will do well if you reach your target market with the same (or similar) message on a consistent basis.

Initiative -  This virtue will be crucial to you in every aspect of your business — after all, when you are a tiny business owner — if you don’t do it, it doesn’t get done.   You will have great success if you get out there and DO IT!

Charity – This is the most important virtue of all.  You must TRULY want to help others.  Marketing on the Internet is different than traditional marketing.  You cannot hit people over the head with your marketing, you must add VALUE to them — provide some kind of benefit to engaging with your business.
