I met Pat at WhatSmokin’? BBQ today as I was driving down to meet my family at Mastodon State Park.
Let me tell you that I love BBQ — maybe not as much as Pat does — but I am a connoisseur and I love to slow smoke a pork shoulder or beef brisket on a Sunday. But it is a lot of work.
When I don’t feel like breaking out my own smoker I know exactly where I am headed — WhatSmokin’? has the best BBQ brisket and pork shoulder that I have tasted in the Saint Louis area. It is absolutely fantastic.
WhatSmokin? is located at 3963 West Outer Rd in Arnold, MO. They take phone orders at 314.550.0462. They are just south of Imo’s. Stop by and see Pat, and if you like what you eat — tell a friend about WhatSmokin’?

We had dinner this evening and it was fantastic!
I had the pulled pork dinner with their 3-bean baked beans and potato salad. The pulled pork was a very generous portion and was just right with their tangy & spicy bbq sauce. The beans had a good kick to them – but not too spicy.
My wife had the pork steak, 3-bean baked beans and bbq spaghetti. I was quite hesitant about the bbq spaghetti but I was pleasantly surprised! The pork steak was very tender and had a great flavor to it.
Prices are very reasonable. For two adults and two children the price was $30. Price is a little more than normal because I purchased a $5.49 bag of beef jerky and a beer.
For those local to Arnold / St. Louis, check your Val-Pak mailer for a coupon!
Hi MitchellSTL — thanks for the review! Glad you enjoyed your visit to Whatsmokin?
HI Russ. I remember you. I was searching my name on google and came across your review. WOW what a pleasant surprise. I sure wish I knew how to get my name out there like in Sauce and the RFT. Business sure is tough in this economy; especially when you don’t have a bottomless amount of money for advertising like some places I could name. Creating an image is one thing; but, if you cannot back it up with great food…then what’s the point? I have so many people coming in saying “I’ve heard good things about you.” It makes me feel good; but, I know it is going to take me 2 years to get a real feel for how successful I can be. I’m still trying to get Guy Fieri from Diner’s, Drive-In’s & Dives to visit. Someone told me I needed a publicity stunt. Can you think of a good one for me? Well, thanks again – I wish there were more replies on here. Maybe I can put this up on my website and get some feedback. What do you think?
Thanks Russ,
Take Care,
Pat
Thanks Pat! I would start following @TheLunaLounge on Twitter for a great example of marketing a restaurant on Twitter. It’s funny but I get about 15 visits a month from people that are looking for your BBQ restaurant.
