I Can Make You Rich! And If I Don’t There Are No Consequences!

car_salesmanAs Twitter went mainstream it also seems to have brought every “Get Rich Quick” scam artist in the world with it.

You know the drill… click on this link to find out how I made a zillion dollars while laying on the beach with a beautiful supermodel and an apple martini.

The lawless nature of the Internet has been one of its strengths.  The lack of regulation has allowed the Internet to grow to the glorious portal of information, entertainment and commerce that it is today.

However, as the Internet continues to mature we are beginning to see more and more regulation.  I am beginning to think this is a good thing.

I am seeing more and more tweets that look this one:

If I had to ballpark it, I would say that 10-15% of my day is spent wading through SPAM.  “Get Rich Quick” tweets are becoming a larger and larger part of that piece of pie.

I know that I can unfollow these people but I don’t.  I have gotten to know the people that provide me with relevant information from those that are going to lead me to another six mile long sales letter.

The FTC has warned us that if we cannot self-regulate, we will get mandated regulations from them.  I think this is inevitable.  If there is money to be made, people will violate all the ethics  in the world.  Hopefully, they will not be able to get away with violating the impending laws.
