Where you shouldn’t dig

Every tiny business owner knows the same thing — cold calling, television ads and billboards aren’t dead to the big brands but they are dead to us. They are too costly.  You can’t get in front of enough people, enough times to make an impact. But there is good news.  It doesn’t take a big marketing budget to succeed today. But you knew that.  Or you wouldn’t be here in the first place.

I dig every day

I am not a billionaire Internet marketing guru.  Actually, I’m allergic.   And I won’t make a YouTube video showing me driving up in a new Bentley. I will, however, tuck my kids into bed tonight knowing that I have a business built on a solid foundation.  A foundation that gets stronger with each day that passes. I have built a business that will continue to grow, as long as I keep digging in the right place.

Digging is easier, when you get it

This stuff doesn’t happen overnight. Which means you could dig for months years in the wrong place. And that is the most frightening part. Or, you might dig with the confidence that every scoop of dirt gets you closer to success. Your choice. These videos start by teaching you the fundamental barrier between you and new leads, sales and referrals. It’s a fundamental business concept that most business owners don’t understand. Firstly, these videos are very short (the first one is 4 minutes) because I don’t have much time either.  I’ve trimmed every ounce of fat off of these videos. Don’t have the technical skills to dig?

You can’t use this as an excuse. This type of marketing isn’t technical.

If you can do the following, you can execute on this strategy:

  • Check your email
  • Navigate the Internet
  • Use Microsoft Word

If you can’t do these things, you are probably having a hard time marketing off-line as well.  :)   Get some computer training ASAP!

Seriously, this is not technical.  The only things that have changed are HOW we are communicating and more importantly, WHAT we are communicating.
